Become Involved-Join a Committee!

Friends of Hearthside has achieved great success over the past 9 years because of a wonderful group of volunteers that have worked tirelessly to transform Hearthside into the historic showcase it is today. And we’re still growing, with increased programming, restoration and property improvements, along with the addition of the other Great Road historic sites. We invite you to consider becoming a volunteer and joining us in our efforts. There are many opportunities to select from, whether it is helping with an event or serving on a committee, such as:

  • Resource Development: “Friend Raising”- Work to ensure adequate resources to achieve our mission and to implement our programs and projects. Assist in raising support for the organization through memberships, sponsorships, grants, raffles, special events, gift shop, and securing in-kind gifts and recruiting volunteers.
  • Site Preservation & Development: Assist in the preservation planning, promotion and protection of Hearthside, Hannaway Blacksmith Shop, Moffett Mill and Chase Farm House and the Great Road Historic District. Includes restoration, grounds, signage and advocacy.
  • Education & Research: Help inform and educate our audiences about the history of Hearthside, the Great Road, the Blackstone Valley and ways of life in the 19th century. Conduct research to develop our historical exhibits and tours. Outreach to schools, youth groups, tours. Serving as a docent for any of the sites.
  • Finance: Work to ensure the financial accountability of the organization. Oversee process of budget development.
  • Strategic Development: Set the direction for the organization that best reflects the community's needs. Plan for the organization’s future, on both a long-term and short-term basis. Includes evaluation of programs and projects, as well as development of leadership for the organization through board member recruitment and nomination.
