Hearthside - The House That Love Built

HEARTHSIDE CHRISTMAS CARDS NOW AVAILABLE

Just in time for the upcoming holiday season, the Friends of Hearthside announces the release of a line of holiday cards featuring Hearthside. One series includes a variety of professionally photographed pictures of Hearthside, taken after a freshly fallen snow last December, and includes both daytime and evening shots with the house all aglow.   Measuring 5 inches by 7 inches, these elegant cards have been produced with archival quality photos, paper and ink that are suitable for framing.  The photographs were taken by Ruth Clegg of Angell Fine Art.  Single cards may be purchased for $2.95 or 3 cards for $7.50 or all 5 scenes for $11.50.  Each card contains a different sentiment inside, and the back of the card includes the story of Hearthside, "The House That Love Built."

Another style of holiday card has also been released for those who prefer a more traditional greeting reminiscent of a 19th century Christmas.  These cards are reproductions of paintings that were done by Hearthside's previous owner, E. Andrew Mowbray.  Each holiday season, it was a tradition for Mr. Mowbray to paint a scene on canvas, keeping it as a surprise to his family.  Once unveiled, he would produce Christmas cards from the painting.  The Mowbray cards were a special treat for friends and family.  There are 3 cards that have been reproduced from the Mowbray collection.

The Great Road Christmas 1812 card transports you back to how Great Road looked back then during Christmastime, and Hearthside can be seen in the distance.

The Night Before Christmas at Hearthside is a cut-away view of the house, just like peering into a dollhouse. You can see the children tucked away in their beds upstairs, while downstairs their father decorated the Christmas tree in the parlor, and their mother in the kitchen taking something out of the oven.  And overhead, Santa Claus is flying through the night sky.

Skaters on Butterfly Pond is a scene from 1814 with men, women and children dressed in old-fashioned clothes skating on the pond and looking so very elegant.  Looking across the pond you can see Hearthside in the distance.

The Mowbray collection cards measure 4 inches by 6 inches and sell for $1.95 for a single card or all 3 scenes for $4.50.

The Hearthside Christmas cards are available for purchase at the Hearthside Gift Shop or by ordering at 401-726-0597.  Special pricing for quantities are available. Of course, all proceeds from the sale of the cards help to support the mission of Friends of Hearthside, Inc.
