
History and Antiques Aplenty at Hearthside's Antiques Fair on August 9thSave $1.00 off Admission with Coupon BelowOn Sunday, August 9th , the Friends of Hearthside will sponsor an Antiques Fair at the 200-year old stone-pillared mansion on Great Road . What better setting for browsing antiques than at a historic site that is located along one of the country's oldest and most scenic roadways in the state. Featuring quality antique and collectible dealers, the Fair will be set on the grounds of Hearthside. Volunteers in period dress will provide history and tours of the historic home. Refreshments will also be available. Among the antiques being offered by dealers are glass, vintage jewelry, paper and postcards, oil lamps, farm tools, kitchenware, Rhode Island memorabilia, World War I and II items, and country and decorative pieces. Next door, blacksmithing demonstrations will take place at the 1880 Hannaway Blacksmith Shop. The blacksmith will use hammer and anvil to form hot steel into various tools that were essential for homeowners and the farmer 100 years ago. A special Civil War exhibit is being displayed at Hearthside as a preview to a full-scale Civil War battle re-enactment that is sponsored by the Friends of Hearthside on September 12-13 th at Chase Farm Park . Recruiters for Civil War re-enactors will also be on site for anyone interested in participating in living history. The Antiques Fair will run from 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. General Admission is $5.00 per adult and includes parking.
